Rotary connects us with people (and helps us understand what matters to our community).Rotary also cares about the environment (it is one of Rotary International’s areas of focus).Connecting and caring came together on Tuesday, as Charlotte and Janett bought Magill Rotary members up to date on the UniSA Magill Campus redevelopment.We are fortunate to have the passion and motivation of the Magill Matters group helping gather community feedback and focusing community action. This morning, Janett Jackson and I had the privilege of presenting to the Magill Sunrise Rotary, sharing updates on the redevelopment of the UniSA Magill Campus and highlighting what makes this site so unique. It was inspiring to see such enthusiasm for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape the site’s future while preserving its green spaces, wildlife, and community facilities.During the presentation, we outlined the community consultation process: Consultation Period: Open until 10th February 2025 at 5 PM. Feedback can be submitted through the online consultation portal. Master Plans Development: Renewal SA will create two draft master plans based on community feedback. Further Community Consultation (April/May 2025): The two draft master plans will be shared for additional feedback. Final Master Plan Reveal (Late 2025): A final version will be prepared after incorporating feedback. Decision: The site will either be sold to private developers or overseen by the government.We’re advocating for the project to become a benchmark in sustainability, innovation, and community well-being—managed by Renewal SA and Oxigen, not sold to private developers. They say to dream big, and that’s exactly what we’re doing! Let’s continue to campain for what matters: preserving our trees, open spaces, and community facilities, protecting the wildlife and environment, and ensuring the future of the Magill UniSA Campus aligns with these values.
