From President Kirsty Stark:
At Tuesday’s meeting we welcomed guest speaker Rhea Wells to pre-launch her new book “A Way to Go” ahead of its official launch at the Burnside Library on April 6th. “A Way to Go” is a heart-warming memoir of the relationship between Rhea and her daughter Rebecca, and their adventures together as Rebecca was growing up.
Rhea spoke about the process of writing and self-publishing the book with the assistance of hired editors. Rhea reminded us that after overcoming a number of obstacles that at age 62 it’s never too late to write your first book. She went on to read a funny excerpt from the book; taking 6 year old Rebecca on an “extreme” virtual skiing adventure at a fairground in Vienna.
Rhea’s reading whetted our appetites for more, and many club members bought copies of her book (ahead of the official launch, but don’t tell anyone). Good Luck Rhea.
The book is also available on Amazon and Kobo and at several bookstores around Adelaide: https://www.amazon.com/Way-Go-Rhea-Wells/dp/1781325464
Business Networking Drinks
We had a great turnout at our Business Networking Drinks, held on Tuesday evening at The Libertine by Louis on Magill Road, Stepney, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Kent Town.
Members from both clubs, as well as many local business owners and employees, came to enjoy a casual drink, some fantastic pizza and cheese platters, and enjoy the networking opportunity.
We also heard a great presentation from guest speaker Andrew Leunig, Futurist and Business Model Innovation Expert, and I’m sure many of us have re-thought opportunities in our businesses since hearing him speak. One of Andrew’s key messages was see what’s working in your business and hone that that before attempting to fix everything. See http://leunig.net.au/people/andrew-leunig/
We’ll be looking to host similar events in future, so if you have any feedback, please let me know.
Weekly Challenge:
Read a good book (Perhaps Rhea’s…?)
