Our guest speaker last Tuesday morning was Romeo Caporaso, Principal of Tax Accounting Adelaide at Newton. He provided us with some pointers about running business networking events. Romeo runs a regular business networking event to help improve the connectedness of businesses around him and to grow his referral base.
Romeo spoke of the value of regular get-togethers to maintain the cohesion of the core group. He also pointed out the importance of having an agenda or a plan for what might be achieved within the time of the meeting. In the past Rotary was all about Business Networking and Romeo’s address is a timely reminder to offer new members the opportunity to talk about their business, its challenges or to have special guest speaker on a current business-related topic.
Although Romeo’s ideas where directed towards our next planned Business Networking Event (in the October timeframe), I think we could also apply them to growing the Magill Sunrise Market; something for Greg to consider!
Marie Hermanns’ Club Farewell
Marie has made more farewells than Johnny Farnham, but last Tuesday morning was definitely it. Marie presented us with a flag linking us to her homeland as well as momento badges for each member. See photo below. Thank you to her host Peter Poulton for acting as chauffer throughout Marie’s exchange year.
Board Meeting Summary
- Thank you letter from EADVS (East Adelaide Domestic Violence Service) received (Kirsty)
- We are keen to run a business networking event later this year.
- Agreed to support five young people through Rotary program this year and four Service Above Self awards in the local schools.
- The Board agreed to provide $500 for the District 9520 Risley Forest project.
